"Roadie" Life

The past two days have been an insane mix of surreal, crazy and unbelievable. I can't begin to write about how good it feels, but I wanted to because one day the feeling will fade away and I want to remember it.

A few months ago I noticed ads for Singfest and I heard about OneRepublic coming. I'd been a fan of Ryan Tedder for a while now, and I was really starting to get into OneRepublic at that point and decided for sure that I'd be going. I roped in Joanna and Joseph and we bought tickets, paid full price and made plans.

The day drew closer and we got more excited as August 3rd became more tangible. I was excited because I really wanted to meet Ryan Tedder and talk to him about his work and, I don't know, gush or something. So last Thursday, July 31st, 2 days before Singfest, I found out I got a gig working backstage at Singfest.

Pretty sweet, huh! The job was pure shite, and I didn't much enjoy running errands and doing things like that, but the payoff was practically perfect. We got paid nothing, but we worked in exchange for meeting bands and hanging out in an air conditioned tent with a Fiji Water supply. It was pretty sweet. Also, I got to watch bands on both Saturday and Sunday for free. I sold my ticket on Sunday afternoon for 25% more than what I bought it for. I was "auctioning" it off to these 2 really enthusiastic girls. Lmfao

Of course, while doing all this, I had to, unfortunately, give up the chance to spend the day with my good great friends, Joanna and Joseph. I am truly apologetic about it, but I'm really glad they had a good time because I was having a great time and I wanted them to be as happy. I brought them 10 drinks and a bowl of outrageously crazy rice from the food and beverage tent when they managed to find their way out of the crowd.

On Saturday, I had the opportunity to watch Simple Plan in concert. I'd been listening to Simple Plan since I was 12 years old, but I've only seen them play once, when I was 15. That show was one of the best in my entire life so far, though. I admit I haven't truly been into their new stuff, but SP is one of those bands that I go to a show knowing most of the words to the songs to, and it just feels so damn good. I loved that feeling. Their music brought back great memories. I only wish Tzehern could have been there, he loves them as much as, if not more than I do.

Later on when I met them I shook their hands and told them of my admiration and love for their music, and that I've been listening to them for as long as I have. They signed my booklet and life was incredible. Yesterday I also met Travis, and I told them I loved the video that Fran did for Selfish Jean. If you haven't already seen it, it is the one where there is a dude taking off millions of layers of T shirts, and it is incredible.

I also had the chance to speak with Chris Cron of Mêlée. Chris was cool guy, he sings pitch perfect live and plays the keys really expressively so I had to tell him how great I thought he was. We both agreed we were really excited to be seeing OneRepublic live the next day, and we agreed about Tedder being pretty much a genius.

I won't write much about today (Sunday), but I will say this: OneRepublic was insane. It was everything I thought it would be, and then some. I didn't want it to end. For me, watching them was as great as watching Dark Knight. There really aren't words.

After the show I tried to get the autographs of OneRepublic but it was near impossible, they had a really tight schedule and 51 fans had won meet and greets and it really ate up time. I did manage to get hold of the guy who was pretty much the reason for my going to Singfest, though. Ryan was pretty damn cool! He shook my hand while I pretty much gushed and said listening to their album made my year, and that I'm such a huge fan and that his voice is crazy. I also mentioned that I'm really psyched about the stuff he's doing with Kelly Clarkson that's coming out later this year. He thinks the material is pretty crazy, and might be even bigger than what Bleeding Love was, which he also co-wrote. So now I am even more psyched.

I shook his hand and thanked him, and he signed my CD sleeve and life was perfect in that moment.

Fer realz (lmfao)

I realise how lucky I am, and I'm really thankful. I don't have anything to say other than Thanks ;)

Yeah he totally did! I let him know that I'm a massive fan of both of 'em and he assured me it was some good stuff! He thinks it could match the success of Bleeding Love, which really says something!

So I hope you dont mind me asking, but who are you? Just curious to know how you got here!

Ryan said something like he was never really excited about working on a project till now working with Kelly. Also he says that Kelly's new album is going to be the best album yet.

That's what I hear! When a journalist asked if he would ever decide not to write for anyone who asked him (now that he has his own band), he says he does it all the time and rejects 90% of the work because he has really little time and wants to use it to work on artists he truly believe in. A few examples he gave were Beyonce and also Kelly. That's pretty darn cool!

Btw who is this? Just curious about how you got here is all!
